5 Things You Need to Know About Arlington

ARLINGTON: 5 Things You Need to Know

These are the five things you need to know about Arlington, Virginia.

First off, it is considered both a city and county. The second biggest city here in metro DC and the smallest county by square miles in the US.  Though to be technical the state of Virginia has it designated as a county because it is not an incorporated city.

Number two. The latest census data has the population at two hundred thirty-eight thousand people living in Arlington.

Number three. Washington landmarks Arlington National Cemetery and the Pentagon are both located here in Arlington. The cemetery is located opposite Memorial Bridge from the National Mall and get this the Pentagon though here in Virginia has a Washington, DC address and zip code.

Number four. Amazon’s build out of their second headquarters or Amazon HQ2 is well under way in Arlington’s Crystal City area that is now being rebranded as National Landing that derives its name in large part because of the proximity of National Airport. Or is that Reagan or DCA? You tell me.

And coming in fifth! Did you know Arlington County along with the city of Alexandria had been part of Washington DC in what had been known as Alexandria County? With Washington County, what we call DC today, the Federal District had been a square with ten mile sides measuring one hundred square miles.

There you have it! Those are the five things you need to know about Arlington, Virginia. We are always creating new content so remember to smash that subscribe button.
